Superbly over-Arching, Doric!

Posted on Jun 09, 2009
Welcoming Barnsley’s new music hopefuls onto stage for the penultimate leg of the 2009 “Live and Unsigned” national new music competition was exciting – not least because I’d already heard great things about this new funk-rock trio, but also since these guys are from my own backyard, telling the stories of my town and it’s people; our concerns, our trials, and our triumphs…

BAND THROUGH TO NATIONAL FINAL

Posted on May 20, 2009
Doric Arch walked away from Manchester last weekend feeling completely liberated after winning the Live and Unsigned Regional Final at The Willows in Salford. Most of the 70 or so fans who came to watch them sweep through to the final stages said it was probably the best day they have ever had ever.

The boys were awarded a small trophy by one of the judges and were then pounced upon as the stage was invaded by throngs of female fans wearing barely any clothes or underwear.

Crag, Lead vocalist and Guitarist from the band said:
"It's times like these that you realise why you are really putting yourself through the whole thing - and it's because you've got to, otherwise you wouldn't. And if you didn't it wouldn't matter because you'd be putting yourself through something else anyway. Main point is, we got put through to the final and where we'll be putting ourselves on the 27th June is the Guildhall in Portsmouth."

Catch Doric Arch near you soon - check out the gigs section to see where they'll be popping up next....

JAZZ BAND SHRUNK

Posted on Aug 12, 2008
A Popular Jazz outfit 'Duke Newport' has been shrunk this week according to Fonk Records Sources in the U.S. The band was shrunk due to a variety of financial reasons relating to tour bus size and stage size. It is apparently cheaper and easier in the current economic climate to shrink a band than to buy a bigger minibus with more seats. A spokesperson from the band's record label 'JazzBastard' said the idea was to get 4 band members on each 2 man seat in the minibus. The Roadies and Lighting and Sound Engineers have been left at full size due to the technical and logistical difficulties which would be encountered when lifting gear and operating a mixing desk. Pegler Stank from the Hungarian Jazz Association (HUJAss) said 'It is becoming increasingly difficult for performers to find room even on stage, so shrinking them benefits us in more ways than one, although it can be hard once you have been made smaller to find clothes to fit.' The quest to find a way to re-enlarge them continues.

NEW PA SYSTEM FOR STELLAR PERFORMANCE

Posted on Jul 25, 2008
Doric Arch this week announced the purchase of a brand new high power PA system to push forward their bid to become the loudest 3 man entity this side of Ursa Minor. The massive Speaker is one of 2000 which will form part of an array 15 miles long which will be sent into a low earth orbit on specially designed NASA Rockets over the next 2 years - in preperation for the first ever gig on the moon. The proceess of cutting a flat slice off the top of the moon to create a stage platform has already begun, and satelites previously used for spying in the Cold War have been re positioned around the moon ready to hold the rigging and lighting setup.

Posted on May 12, 2008
The new Doric Arch website, which has been lovingly created over the past 35 years, has finally been almost completed. Certain sections are still in the making and have not been activated yet, but all should be turned on and up and running in 263 years. The website will be the focus for all of Doric Arch's antics up and down the planet - and fucking beyond!!!!!

The guys at Doric Arch and Fonk Reecords are very exited about it all, one insider claiming to have seen them celebrating by dressing up as giant feet.
